Carers meeting

Our 2nd meeting will be held on Thursday 26 September 2024 11am at Starbucks at Great Western Retail Park, so If you’re interested, which I hope you will be, come along and enjoy a coffee on Antonine.

What are the benefits of a care group for people who may care for a friend, or family member with a learning disability and/or Autism?

Emotional Support

Peer Support: Connecting with others who are in similar situations can provide a sense of solidarity and understanding that friends or family members who are not carers might not be able to offer.

Reduced Isolation: Carers often feel isolated due to the demands of their role. Regular meetings or online interactions can alleviate this feeling.

Emotional Outlet: Sharing experiences and emotions in a safe and supportive environment can help carers manage stress and avoid burnout.

Practical Assistance

Advice and Tips: Carers can share practical advice on handling daily challenges, from managing medications to navigating healthcare systems.

Resource Sharing: Information about local services, financial aid, and other resources can be exchanged, helping carers access support they might not have found on their own.

Problem Solving: Group discussions can lead to new strategies and solutions for common caregiving problems.
