In the early 80s a group of people with disabilities from the Drumchapel area wanted a place to meet which wasn't based on a medical model. they felt they had enough medical intervention and desired a place for themseleves, to meet and have some fun without being judged. Drumchapel Disabled Action was born. Through the years, it grew and developed to become what we are today.

The people of Drumchaple raised funds to build a barrier-free centre. Drumchapel Disabled Action becomes not only a place to meet and have fun, but also a purpose-built care centre for people with disabilities.

Growth

Over the years the centre grew. From an initial 14 service users, we moved to 20 service users per day. In 2006 we registered with the Care Inspectorate.

Expanding our support

Community success

With the implementation of Self Directed Support (SDS), Antonine Court opened its doors and changed its registration with the care inspectorate to meet the needs of all learning and physical disabilities and autism.

Local community goals

A place for care, and for fun

In 2023 we upped our numbers to 32 per day. Our community spirit hasn't changed: there's a family feel, a warm and friendly approach to everything we do. Our service users enjoy their time here while their families feel secure in the knowledge that their loved one is well looked-after.

We provide individualised high level care and meaningful activities that both challenge and educate, promoting dignity opportunity and inclusion. And as you can see, while supporting personal care and additional needs, we still have a lot of fun!
